Tucked away on the southern tip of the Nicoya Peninsula, Santa Teresa and Mal Pais is a traveler's paradise.

area. It's not just the warm waters and excellent surfing conditions that make Santa Teresa a surfer's paradise.
It is everything else the area has to offer as well that makes Santa Teresa and Mal Pais a destination for more than
just surfers. There is much to see and explore in this part of Costa Rica. Santa Teresa is a place that attracts interesting
people from all over the world. There are amazing chefs from across the globe. You can experience a 5 star restaurant

Santa Teresa and Mal Pais Surf

The surf in Mal Pais and Santa Teresa has something for everyone too. How many places in the world offer surfing that is
excellent for beginners and in the same area also offer surf breaks that attract some of the world's best surfers. Playa Carmen,
which is the beach that divides Malpais and Santa Teresa, is known throughout the world as one of the best beaches in the world
for beginners.

Mal Pais Surf Spots:

Punta Barrigona - a long left breaking wave. Punta Barrigona  really only works well when the swell is up.
Los Suecos - another left breaking wave. Los Suecos  gets hollow as the swell picks up.

Santa Teresa Surf Spots:

Suck Rock - This is located at the north end of the beach. It's a right hand point break that works well with north swells.

Playa Carmen - Where to classify this beach, Mal Pais Surf Spots or Santa Teresa Surf Spots? It is Playa Carmen that  separates
the two communities of Mal Pais and Santa Teresa.  Playa Carmen is the most crowded beach in the area and it is the best
beach for beginners in Santa Teresa and Mal Pais. In fact, Playa Carmen is the best beach for beginners in all of Costa Rica.
